Written and accurate as at: Feb 08, 2013 Current Stats & Facts
Children’s Trauma insurance provides a lump sum payment for a parent whose child suffers a major health trauma.
Sometimes a certain level of Children’s Trauma Insurance is included in a parent’s Trauma Insurance policy, but not necessarily.
The major health traumas covered can vary from one policy to another.
As an indication, you may find the following traumas covered, but remember to check the particular policy details for a list of inclusions:
- Blindness
- Brain damage
- Cancer
- Cardiomyopathy
- Chronic kidney failure
- Deafness
- Encephalitis
- Intensive care
- Intracranial benign tumour
- Loss of limbs or sight
- Loss of speech
- Major head trauma
- Major organ transplant
- Meningitis
- Paralysis
- Severe burns
The benefit payment is intended to provide financial support at a time where medical expenses can become very high and a parent’s capacity to work is reduced due to increased care required for the child.
Different policies have different options, so be sure to get personalised advice when considering this type of insurance.
